Bring your perspective to Cochrane plain language summaries

By: Editor

You are invited to participate in a randomized controlled trial of the content and format of Cochrane Plain Language summaries. You don’t need to be a person with a health condition to participate. We are interested in the opinions of the general public.

Please reply if you have time to participate. We are very interested in hearing from you. Also, feel free to forward this message to anyone you might know who would like to participate including friends and family members and let them know they can contact me at the email address below.

Name of Research Project: Evaluation of plain language summaries for Cochrane reviews: A multi-centre randomized controlled trial.

We are interested in making the results of Cochrane reviews more accessible to consumers. To do this we are conducting a research study to test plain language summaries to see if people can understand them, and if they find the information useful and credible.

If you would normally actively seek out written health information, are not currently a health professional, and can read English, then, we want to hear from you!

You are invited to take part in this study, and help us test the content and format of a plain language summary. You will read a plain language summary and answer questions about it. It will take about 30 minutes and your opinions will help us make the results of Cochrane reviews more accessible to other people.

If you are interested in participating please contact Tamara Rader, Project Co-Investigator, Cochrane Musculoskeletal Group at (613) 562-5800 ext. 2397 or at trader@uottawa.ca .
