CAPA has a new webpage

January 15, 2009

We’ve made it. CAPA now has it’s own website at arthritispatient.ca. Member-built and member-driven. The new site has features that will allow us to get to know you better and allow you to interact with other CAPA members. As you explore the site over the next few hours or days let us know what you think. Is the website easy to use? How does it compare to other websites you frequent? Will the link to federal, provincial and territorial government representatives assist you in your advocacy initiatives? Do you like the latest poll feature and will you use it? Is there a question you would like included in the latest poll? We want to know what you think of your new website.

I’m afraid that perhaps this new modernized ‘Let’s Talk Forum’ is a bit too public for the other participants that were in the ‘old Discussion Board’  I’m very surprised that I haven’t seen a familiar name on here after all this time and I have to say, I’m very disappointed!

Congratulations!!!  This is a fantastic website.  You have done a wonderful job.  It is so much less cluttered that the old CAPA site and has a wealth of material to check out.
I am very impressed with all the work you have done here.
I like the polling question idea.  I answered it first before I had even investigated the rest of the page.  What a novel idea!  Why haven’t we seen that anywhere before?
Thanks for persevering with this endeavour.  I know it was not an easy task.

First off I would like to thank Anne Dooley for helping me out with my problem of not being able to log in and having a panic attack smile thank you smile

I’m very relieved to find out that there’s still help, just a click away!  Are you getting a lot of people from the old Discussion Board leaving comments?  I’ve been talking to these people for quite some time and you get to know them and become friends and even worry about them, when they don’t post a comment for awhile.  Hope to hear from them soon.

I hope everyone is doing well…brownie smile

ps…the new site is dynamite…really eye-catching and hopefully I’ll have it all figured out, in the very NEAR future…lol…

Thank you Brownie for your comments and interest in sharing your experience with other people with arthritis.  I was diagnosed with arthritis in the 70s.  I knew nothing about the disease and was afraid.  Information was hard to find and when I did get my hands on something it was either inadequate in terms of answering my questions or over my head.  Being able to talk with fellow patients/consumers is important.  The Let’s Talk comment section is a modernized version of the Discussion Board on our old site.  Its intended use is to facilitate dialogue among people with arthritis where issues of importance can be aired, discussed, and collected.  Through sharing our experiences we learn we are not alone.

The website is great except for one thing…how do we access the forum?  It’s a wonderful tool to help you understand and manage the almost impossible day to day struggle that arthritis patients, as well as other autoimmune diseases like Sjogrens, have to live with. It’s an invaluable learning tool, to be able to ask fellow sufferers how they deal with pain, side effects to meds, mobility issues, children, jobs, depression and just getting out of bed every day, with these disabling conditions. I hope that it’s just me and that I just haven’t found the right portal to access it!

Sincerely…L. Brown

I love the new website.  Congrats on an informative and easy to navigate site.

There are sooo many interesting items, that I can hardly wait to delve into the content of each one.

Best of luck with this new venture.

WOW!!!  What a great website!  I’m really hugely impressed.  It’s colours are vibrant, its graphics are terrific——so vivid and alive—-and while it’s loaded with information, it doesn’t feel dense or congested at all.  Indeed, it has the expansive feel of the Canadian Prairies about it——a sort of “Big Sky” feel, which must be the influence of you and Anne at play!  It also feels fresh and inviting, like walking into a fine home where one will feel at ease and welcome.
I found the language and the entry portals to be clear, simple and direct.  I like the way the captions enlarge and embrace you as your mouse touches upon them.  But do let me play around with it for a while and go into each of the rooms and corridors!!  There may be a few other minor bugs and typos but overall, really you should be extremely proud of the site—-without any exaggeration or hyperbole it’s truly a wonderful creation!!!

Congratulations on the new website.  I love the crisp, bright look and found it very easy to navigate.  I found it very informative and really like the archives feature.

Great job.
